Vemcon Joystick Makes Operating Building Vehicles a Breeze

ESA BIC Bavaria startup Vemcon simplifies the complex control of one of the oldest construction machine called: Motor grader. A grader is a huge building vehicle with a long blade used to create a flat surface, for instance when constructing or building gravel roads. Up to now, the operators of graders had to be true multitasking experts. In addition to the steering wheel, they had to control a total of 10 operating levers. Many marking operations must be controlled using a single lever.

With its Logical Grader Control System, Vemcon offers logical and intuitive steering with only two uniGRIP joysticks for the motor grader. The Vemcon uniGRIP joystick includes the robust and precise mechanics with up to six degrees of freedom. With the left uniGRIP joystick, the driver controls all driving functions, such as the steering of the wheels, articulated steering, adjustment of camber, the gear switches as well as rotary switches. While with the uniGRIP joystick on the right side, the driver is able to control all tool functions from the up and down as well as left and right motion of the blade, panning of the blade, to moving the rear ripper and the front dozer blade.

The control system enables an intuitive, accurate and sensitive handling of the machine. By simplifying the controlling of the machine, Vemcon also enhances its productivity. Several graders have already been equipped with the innovative joystick system, and further machines will follow soon. Vemcon aims to offer the installation of its Logical Control Systems as an ex- factory feature for this mobile work machines.

Vemcon increases the productivity of mobile machines. Their control system simplifies the challenges involved in handling excavators, graders, wheel loaders, as well as agricultural and municipal machinery. Operators can thus work more safely, rapidly, and precisely with their machines.

Along with their OEM customers, they are developing and realising a simplified operating concept based on the Vemcon control system platform. They plan to apply the system and its components to meet customer-specific needs in timely, cost-efficient manner while providing corresponding serial products.

To increase the productivity of existing machines in the market, Vemcon also sells retrofit systems. These products are distributed by original equipment dealers to contractors and other machine operating companies.

Vemcon is part of the ESA BIC Bavaria incubation programme from June 2015 to May 2017.
