Solos measures every single movement during training and gives the user instant real-time feedback

About Stecnius

Our solution is designed to motivate people to maintain a healthier lifestyle, be active, and always know how to improve themselves. Solos offers users a personal assistant that helps them train correctly and avoid injuries. Our first goal is to revolutionize fitness and physiotherapy studios. We then plan to extend our system to other sports, like dancing and boxing. Ultimately, we want to bring Solos into users' homes to help them stay in shape and live healthier lives.

The Challenge
Most fitness users usually don't know how to train correctly, which can cause injuries. The frequent lack of support from a trainer also leads to a lack of motivation. In the end, users get frustrated because they can't see any progress, which results in them cancelling their gym memberships. Studios are trying to compensate for this by investing in new digital innovations, including smart fitness devices.
However, the devices available have some essential disadvantages. They are highly specialized to work particular muscle groups, for example, which means you need a separate device for each exercise. To train the entire body, you would need a whole set of them. More importantly, none of these devices focuses on the most essential and efficient training: the kind that uses your own bodyweight and free-weight exercises.
Solos solves all these issues in one single device.

The Solution
Solos generates a constantly updated 3D model of the user as he or she performs exercises. To do so, it measures the user's body using the LIDAR and RADAR principles. By combining the data from these two sensors, we are able to generate an accurate model in terms of both angles and depth resolution. These sensor technologies also enable us to measure the user's breathing and heart rate to further improve his or her training.
Concerning the hardware behind our technology, we are receiving support from Infineon Technologies AG, which is providing the evaluation kits we require. In addition, various professors from the Technical University of Munich are helping us create software algorithms for efficient signal processing.
