runfun nominated for the Innovationspreis Bayern 2016

The ESA BIC Bavaria incubatee runfun is nominated for the "Innovationspreis Bayern", awarding companies as recognition for outstanding innovative solutions.

The "Innovationspreis Bayern 2016" was started 2012 as a common initiative of the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, the Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the consortium of the Bavarian Chamber of Crafts.

This prize awards product and process innovations as well as innovative technology-oriented services, featuring a first or predictable market success on a biennial basis.

In total up to seven main and special prizes are awarded. The prize consists of an exclusive certificate and a sculpture. In addition, a short movie for every award winner portraying the company is provided. These short movies are shown during the award ceremony and handed over to the companies for promotional purposes.

The final decision of the award winners will be taken in September, followed by the award ceremony on the 21 November 2016 in Munich.

runfun GmbH
runfun is a start-up company in the area of service robotics with special focus on sports and health. The company's team consists of engineers, product designers, and marketing professionals.

It is their vision and mission to explore how robotics technology at large can be used in the design of cyber-physical systems that can assist human users in their indoor and outdoor sport activities, either as mere companions or even as robotic fitness coaches. The main purpose of these devices is to assist users in recovering and improving their personal mobility, fitness, and health. runfun is currently developing and commercialising a robotic running coach named RUFUS as the first product in their portfolio of fitness and health devices.

ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria
runfun is incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from February 2015 to January 2017. The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That does not mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.

ESA's Business Incubation Centre Bavaria was launched in 2009 and is since managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). ESA BIC Bavaria and its renowned partners - DLR, Airbus Defense and Space, Fraunhofer IIS and Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land - provide startups with financial and technical support at four branch offices: Oberpfaffenhofen, Ottobrunn, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land.
