NavVis goes International - New Branch Office in New York

ESA BIC alumni NavVis opens first foreign branch in New York to capture the American market with its unique digital indoor platform. The Munich startup, is running a type of Google Street View for indoor environments, enabling very fast and cost-efficient indoor mapping. Their self-developed trolley creates photorealistic 3D models of even the largest indoor spaces on the go.

The success story of NavVis started in 2013 when they began their incubation at ESA BIC Bavaria with five shareholders. Today, the company already counts close to 100 highly qualified employees. Their technology as well as the team convinced a number of investors, who came on board at the end of 2015. In this first financing round, NavVis secured EUR 7.5 million from investors including VC Target Partners and the prominent business angel Don Dodge from Google.

NavVis already has customers from around the globe. Now, the startup further drives its internationalisation with its first foreign office. As Head of North America, former facebook staff member and Havard alumnus Evan McPhee will run the New York branch office. Starting with three employees taking care of service and sales, NavVis plans to increase their US workforce to five to ten by the end of this year.

The ESA BIC Bavaria team with its startups wishes NavVis all the best for their new start in the Big Apple.

NavVis GmbH
NavVis is running a type of Google Street View for indoor environments. Their trolley creates photorealistic 3D models of even the largest indoor spaces on the go. Explore them with their web-based IndoorViewer for virtual exhibitions, real estate presentations, construction monitoring, etc. Via these models, their patented indoor positioning engine lets the camera of your smartphone ''see'' where you are. Meter accurate and without any infrastructure. Just like GPS for outdoors, this technology is an enabler for the indoor market, incl. navigation, augmented reality, context aware ads, and a myriad more.
