NavVis - a start-up on the verge of a breakthrough

German business journal Handelsblatt recently published an article showcasing 12 start-ups set to play a decisive role in 2016 with their clever business ideas. As prominent players in pharmaceuticals, IT, energy, and other sectors seek to profit from their innovations, investors - especially in the US - are showering them with cash. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs in Asia and Europe are also benefiting from this influx of money.

NavVis was named one of the 12 start-ups to watch in 2016.

NavVis GmbH
NavVis is running a type of Google Street View for indoor environments. Their trolley creates photorealistic 3D models of even the largest indoor spaces on the go. Explore them with their web-based IndoorViewer for virtual exhibitions, real estate presentations, construction monitoring, etc. Via these models, their patented indoor positioning engine lets the camera of your smartphone ''see'' where you are. Meter accurate and without any infrastructure. Just like GPS for outdoors, this technology is an enabler for the indoor market, incl. navigation, augmented reality, context aware ads, and a myriad more.

ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria
NavVis was incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from September 2014 to September 2015. The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That doesn't mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.
ESA's Business Incubation Centre Bavaria was launched in 2009 and is since managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). ESA BIC Bavaria and its renowned partners - DLR, Airbus Defense and Space, Fraunhofer IIS and Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land - provide startups with financial and technical support at four branch offices: Oberpfaffenhofen, Ottobrunn, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land.
