New mobility services for sustainable customer retention

The role of electromobility in Bavaria and Europe and new mobility services designed to support sustainable customer retention are the focus topics of the current edition of the vernetzt journal, which is published by Bayern Innovativ.

The article on new mobility services focuses on future mobility concepts developed by industry stakeholders and new solutions offered by startups. Two of our ESA BIC Bavaria startups - Greenspider GmbH and Scoo mobility GmbH - are presented along with their innovative mobility services. In SMASH ("Smart Sharing"), Nuremberg-based ESA BIC alumnus Greenspider is offering benefits to mobility providers and consumers by facilitating efficient fleet monitoring and easy, flexible access to vehicles, charging stations, and parking lots. Meanwhile, Scoo mobility - which is currently undergoing incubation at ESA BIC Bavaria's Oberpfaffenhofen branch - is doing its part to make scooters a supplementary component of the mobility mix. Its app enables customers to make use of a fleet of scooters distributed throughout Munich in a matter of minutes.

Greenspider GmbH
Greenspider develops technology solutions for sustainable mobility, in particular electromobility and vehicle-sharing schemes that meet the needs of citizens and municipalities in reducing urban traffic and CO2 emissions.

Greenspider's innovative technology consists of a miniaturized and low-consumption device with embedded satellite tracking, machine-to-machine communication, and near-field communication. This facilitates easy interaction between users and their vehicles and innovative services for electric vehicle sharing, such as mobile subscriptions and payment.

Scoo Mobility GmbH
Mobility is a basic need and an important accelerator for modern societies. Metropolitan areas worldwide are witnessing explosive growth, and citizens' mobility needs are increasing at a similar pace. Parking space is a scarce commodity, and high traffic rates are a burden on both urban inhabitants and the environment.
While a huge number of service providers are committed to the collaborative utilisation of cars and bicycles, motorbikes for the most part are continuously subject to more conventional conditions of use. scoo mobility is the first free-floating scooter sharing provider that leverages electric and motor scooters to close the enormous gap left among cars, bicycles, and public transport. It thus offers smart metropolises a fast, considerably lower-priced, environmentally friendly, trend-setting mobility concept that saves space and eliminates the need to find parking.

ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria
The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That doesn't mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.

ESA's Business Incubation Centre Bavaria was launched in 2009 and is since managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). ESA BIC Bavaria and its renowned partners - DLR, Airbus Defense and Space, Fraunhofer IIS and Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land - provide startups with financial and technical support at four branch offices: Oberpfaffenhofen, Ottobrunn, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land.
