Hearty welcome to our new ESA BIC Bavaria incubatee AF-AX

Together with its current startups, the ESA BIC Bavaria team welcomes its new incubatee AF-AX with its innovative and fascinating business case. AF-AX develops a bionic surface technology that improves aerodynamic operating range and resistance to turbulence in aerodynamic applications. This technology works in a manner similar to a bird's feathers, which enable its wings to achieve greater efficiency by changing their shape dynamically, in order to cope with various flow conditions. AF-AX's vision is to pioneer the next performance leap in aerodynamic applications through its aeroflexible technology. After starting with an add-on surface kit for small wind-turbine blades, the company plans to expand to other use cases in transport, aerospace, sailing, and industrial applications.

The company is experiencing incubation at the ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria in Oberpfaffenhofen for two years.

ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria
The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That does not mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.

ESA's Business Incubation Centre Bavaria was launched in 2009 and is since managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). ESA BIC Bavaria and its renowned partners - DLR, Airbus Defense and Space, Fraunhofer IIS and Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land - provide startups with financial and technical support at four branch offices: Oberpfaffenhofen, Ottobrunn, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land.

ESA BIC Bavaria has four selection rounds each year. The next application deadline for the incubation programme is 29 August 2016. Apply now for ESA BIC Bavaria
